Well, kudos to all those earnestly waiting for the closure or wreckage of the Nigeria community in Cambodia as the said association is on the verge of loosing its office along Mao Tse Toung boulevard street. The office space have not been paid for the past three months according to reports from the office of treasurer who made an early urgent call to me last morning in possible way to settle amount owe. The landlady has been so patience enough waiting on empty promises on officers in charge promising to pay for weeks now.
Now here's the pain of loosing the office space! There would be any possible place for Nigerians to hold monthly meetings, no more information center for people to obtain genuine and first hand updates concerning us, Nigerians will remain divided as the association cease to exist, we would no longer be seen as one nation and we know exactly the challenges posing ahead of this incident.
In previous months, on several occasion, executives had taxed themselves to raise cash in settling rent without expecting return and we have also pleaded to concerned Nigerians to give willful donations which has sustained the office till this ugly moment. The association do not have stable source of revenue as its registered as non profit making organization.
Normally, association generate few revenue from members monthly dues paid which is barely enough as majority of members do not pay up dues except they're in need of office assistance. This attitude is never right with people of driven purpose for what they need most. What a shame to see this happening to people that could spend as much as 500usd a row at night bars across phnom penh.
The executives on the other hand had also given it up on calling on anyone to donate money. Its dishearten and this must not continue! In previous meeting held that only few numbers attended, people vowed to give some donations to offset the outstanding rent owe yet non has fulfilled those promises. Lets' us not deceive ourselves. Its better to come up collectively to say lets close the association and everyone walk their ways than pretense. We should be bold enough to apply the rules of nexus- you are either for the association or against it. I leave this to your conscience.
