In our today society, we see women rising to top level of offices including political appointment, president or prime ministers of great countries across the world like (Australia, Liberia, Thailand, etc). Mrs Ngozi Ewele of Nigeria became managing director of world bank plc until her recent appointment as minister of finance in Nigeria under Dr. Goodluck regime. The position she's returning to for second time and this is a woman who believe in herself and ability to give back to people who have given much to her in time past.
Dr. Ezekwesili, former minster of education in Nigeria was a woman, Hilary Clinton as the state secretary of united states is also a woman and the list goes on and on. These women achieved great things for countries and still serving under their government today. They are highly respected women in our society today and they are still making strong waves in various fields of service.
Then its with a far view from this with Nigeria women in Cambodia. They never wish to step up to responsibilities even at various church activities. I felt so a shame when a lady from the states asked me if there were any Nigeria women in Cambodia and why are they not involve in things. Then she was so right in her asking. Hardly any Nigeria lady get involve in activities of NCSA in the past. I believe we have more and qualified women whose wealth of experience and knowledge would be a huge plus to us yet, they never show up at any events or meetings except festivity gathering (come and eat). We have women teaching and working in several schools and firms across Cambodia, doing themselves proud.
Mrs Fatima Joshua |
Reently, the transition of government has brought to scene a woman of confidence, who is bold enough to represent Nigeria women in government of NCSA. Mrs Fatima was duly elected as VP of the association last year general election and with so much drama taking place, she has assumed acting president post and this is quite okay for us now. I know there are so many odds surrounding Fatima that stand as hindrance to be duly appointed as president but, then she's been very up doing in issues relating to Nigerians as well as NCSA.
People voted her into power and with that same trust, I think people should give her optimum supports and freelance to carry on her constitutional rights as VP while we lock horns together in search for a more qualified person to lead the association for good with hope that Nigeria and Nigerians name would not be drag into mud ever again.
To other women out there, please come out to support Fatima as she's not really getting on well with her supposed colleagues Mimi Jack. They have both been seen by the executives as popular Tom N Jerry. WE have tried to resolve this for long and all efforts yielded nothing so fellow women please come to the rescue for peace sake.
Women have so much to offer in piloting the affairs of the association and its not wholly men. Behind every successful man there is a woman and it would make lots of sense if more women step up to offer their help to Nigerians. Women are no longer push overs NOW and gone in those days that women were relegated to nothing. Step up to make a positive change, make a voice for the women and we would be glad you did.
